Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself

Yes, the title might be a little cliche but if like me you hear songs in your head when you read the lines, it’ll get you thinking of that song. And that happens to me all the time.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. My name is David, I’m 25 and I am, by my own admission, an eccentric, quirky and odd sort of fellow. I live in the land down under (and apparently, beer does flow and men chunder but as a non-drinking man, I scratch my head at the appeal of such an activity) and have done so for all my life. So, to any American readers, hello from the not-so-distant future! (Jetpacks and hoverboards will be available here any day, I can feel it!)

So, you might be asking what this blog is going to be all about. Well, the answer is... whatever I feel like writing about. And being a nerd and a geek, you can expect a lot of topics associated with nerd and geekdoms to pop up occasionally. So, basic rundown:

- I read comic books, leaning more toward DC these days and in particular, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Superman and Justice League. Though I will read non-superhero comics, in particular Scott Pilgrim, Y: The Last Man, Sin City, Sandman and as of writing this, I have the first twenty-four issues of The Walking Dead to cover. Also, Buffy comics are among some of the best I’ve ever read and I hope Season 9 continues to uphold the fine standards.
However, what I read is limited due to the fact that Australia really hasn’t caught on with comics so I borrow what I can from libraries.
One comic I cannot recommend, however, is Tank Girl. Oh how I loathe thee... even if Jet Girl was better in the comics than the movie, the comics suck, just being random words strung together with no coherence and stories you lose track of quickly.

- In relation to Batman, I also follow a lot of the media adaptations of the Caped Crusader, and I love nearly all of them. I’ve come to appreciate the attempts to make a light-hearted Batman show and I respect what the 60‘s Batman did for the character (and the movie’s fun too). That being said, Batman And Robin and All-Star Batman And Robin are great ways to screw the character up.
In short, just as Jerry Seinfeld had a Superman reference in every episode throughout his sitcom, there may be a lot of Batman references sprinkled throughout my blogs and in some cases, blogs where he is the subject. So, fair warning to anyone who’s not a fan, is only just getting into the mythology or is sick of Batman

- If there’s any one topic that’s probably going to get more coverage than anything else on my blog, it’s movies. I have a great passion for movies. From almost any genre, if it intrigues me on some level, I’ll watch it. But my favourite genres are horror, comedy and thriller. My favourite movie is A Clockwork Orange and has been since I was 14 years old. Incidentally, regarding horror films, I tend to lean towards zombies as my favourite of the supernatural beings, though I am fond of (most types) of vampires, Frankenstein monsters and want to see more involving succubi. I’m also very fond of the fable of Spring-Heeled Jack, I wonder if they’ll ever make a movie out of it (or if its been featured on Supernatural. Hmm. Must look into that)

- I am also a fan of ThatGuyWithTheGlasses (you can visit the site here- http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/ )and most of the contributors therein, even though I have many more videos and contributors to go through. Amongst them all, I view Linkara as my favourite (his website- http://atopfourthwall.blogspot.com/) and a huge inspiration in my life, partly for his reviewing style and partly for how he and I have similar interests and he’s not ashamed of them. It’s a goal of mine to one day actually join the site as a video contributor, though that is someways off yet and I also have to not suck at it. OK, that’s enough sucking up...

There’s obviously a lot more I could cover but considering how long this introduction is so far, it’s for the best I finish up.
So, hopefully people will find my ramblings and random references of some amusement.
We shall soon see.
